How to make Cookie Cup Crown Party Bites

These are so cute and make perfect princess themed party food! These would be just right for a princess or fairytale themed birthday party or baby shower, make super cute sweet party food bites for a sleepover or slumber party or even just to make at home with your little helpers.

To make these, you will need

• A mini muffin tray (with about 24 cavities)
• 16 oz ready to bake cookie dough (any kind - we used rainbow choc chip!)
• 2/3 cup any frosting
• Some mini knot shaped pretzels
• Some mini pretzel sticks
• A pinch of edible glitter (optional)

First, to prepare, preheat the oven to 350'F and if you have any, spray your baking tray with nonstick cooking spray. This step is optional but will help your cookie cups come out extra easily!

Then grab a handful of mini pretzel knots and carefully break them up in to pieces that arch slightly and resemble Maui's hook, from the movie Moana!

This might take a few tries as some may break awkwardly, but carefully take hold of each section and firmly snap it to break off the hook like pieces. This doesn't have to be perfect - any hook like shape will do and will work well!

These will form the crown shapes on top of the cookie cups. For 24 cups you will need 48 hook shaped pieces - two for each one!

Once you have your pretzel hook pieces, grab your cookie dough and break off a piece to fill each cavity in the tray. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Once baked, use the back of a wooden spoon or muddler or similar tool to gently press down in the centre of each cookie, creating an indentation for the icing to go. We used the other side of a spatula tool, but even a small spoon will do! This will create a pocket for the frosting to sit and turn them into cookie cups.

Next, transfer the pan to the fridge and let the cups chill for 20 mins or so. After this, they should be firmer and easier to remove from the tray. We used the end of a fork to gently release each out from the pan.

Next, grab your frosting and use a piping bag or a small spoon to fill each cup with a generous amount.

Then grab your mini pretzel sticks and one by one, break them in half so that they are roughly the same size. This might take a few tries - so you can feed any uneven sized pieces to your helpers yourself before selecting the neatest ones for your cookie cups. Gently insert each one into the centre of each cookie cup, as far as it will go without breaking through the cookie base.

This is also a great time to add any pretty sprinkles or edible glitter to your creations!

Now to make them in to crowns, grab each hook shaped pretzel piece and dab each hook end with a little leftover frosting or icing. This will secure it in place to the mini pretzel stick in the centre. Then carefully plant each hook piece into the icing, either side of the middle pretzel stick and glue the iced hook end to the stick in the middle, to roughly form a crown shape.

These look so striking all together on the party table! Don't worry about making them identical, it's normal for each to differ from the next. They look so cute and a perfect for a fairytale themed party spread!

We hope you love and enjoy! Please feel free to pin to come back later.
